The iconic long-distance triathlon series

Since the creation of IRONMAN in 1978, athletes have proven that anything is possible by crossing finish lines at the world’s most challenging endurance races.

Beginning as a single race, IRONMAN has grown to become a global sensation with more than 235 events across 55+ countries. The famous IRONMAN World Championship takes place in Kona, Hawaii each year in October.

What exactly is an IRONMAN? An IRONMAN event covers a total distance of 140.6 miles, or 226km, and comprises a 3.8km swim, followed by 180km on the bike, before finishing with a marathon, 42.195km run.

Completing this or a half-IRONMAN distance (70.3), represents a lifelong ambition for many endurance athletes.
